What is Inflatable Trampoline Made From?

The jumping pillow (bouncy pillow) or trampolines are made from high grade material as used in many inflatable boats. It is a flexible PVC( fabric reinforced, heavy gauge, UV treated, mildew resistant PVC.

Although Mister Glue will bond both rigid and flexible PVC, these trampolines are obviously made from the flexible type.

Repair a PVC tear or hole in your inflatable trampoline.  You will see a patch on the Kangaroo Jumper (see photos).  The original glue used to repair the hole was allowing the edges to peel back. Using Mister Glue along the open edges we squeezed a small amount in and held the surfaces together for a few seconds.  The trampoline was deflated at the time so it was much easier to press the edges together against the ground underneath.  I worked around the edges of the patch to ensure that all gaps were tight.  Used thumbnail to make sure it was tight to the edge.  Let it dry overnight.

This Kangaroo Jumper has been used and abused for about 10 days since being repaired with no deterioration in the edges of the patch and remains totally flexible with absolutely no leaks.

Patches done on this type of material are also completely waterproof.  So, if you are patching an inflatable boat or a Water Trampoline use the same technique as above.  Deflate and make sure that the surfaces are dry.  If you are putting two pieces of clear vinyl together, Mister Glue will dry clear as well.

Once cured leave for a few hours if possible to fully cure.  That said, we have used some materials much sooner with no issues.

Note: I did have to repair this a second time, partly because I did not clean off the old glue properly.  So, when I did that I also put a patch on the inside.  This is crucial as the single patch on the outside is taking pressure to come apart but the inside patch has pressure on it pushing the two pieces together.  As a result the outside patch has virtually no pressure from the air to come apart.  This can be a bit of a pain  to do.  I put a piece of wood underneath and make sure the patch is big enough.  Tuck it in and have someone hold it up off the surface while you apply enough glue.  Then, when you are pressuring the two pieces, you have the firmness of the piece of wood underneath.  Hold for 20-30 seconds or so.  Once set, you can apply the outside patch.
