How to fix toys with Mister Glue’s Instant Glue
Mister Glue’s Instant Glue is ideal for toy repair and is completely safe for children's toys. Once set, it is non-toxic and waterproof, ensuring durability even when toys are played with in the bathtub or left outside in the rain.
Suitable Materials
Children's plastic toys are generally made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene, polyethylene, and polypropylene. The harder plastics, like PVC, are very easy to glue and create a permanent bond, so make sure you don’t want the pieces to come apart again. Softer plastics, such as polyethylene and polypropylene, are tougher to glue as they are made from cheaper materials similar to plastic gas tanks.
Gluing Harder Plastics (e.g., PVC, Lego)
Apply a Tiny Amount: Use the smallest amount of Mister Glue’s Instant Glue to bond the material permanently.
Check for Fit: Ensure the pieces match well with no gaps. The tighter the fit, the better.
Apply and Hold: Put a small amount of glue on one side and press the pieces together for a few seconds (10-15 seconds for harder plastics).
Gluing Softer Plastics (e.g., Polyethylene, Polypropylene)
Prepare Surfaces: Ensure the pieces match well. Make sure each surface is clean.
Use Accelerator: Apply Accelerator to one side using the brush. Wait about 30 seconds.
Apply Glue: Apply Mister Glue’s Instant Glue to the other side, ensuring it covers the entire surface without excess.
Press and Hold: Press the pieces together firmly. Hold longer for softer plastics and let it set overnight to ensure a strong bond.
Tips for Clean Application
Clean Surfaces: Make sure to clean off any old glue and ensure the surfaces are as clean as possible
Minimal Glue: More glue is not better. Barely cover the surface for the best results.
Use Tools: If too much glue is coming out, use a pin or toothpick to apply it to the toy.
Avoid Smearing: If excess glue squeezes out, let it set until it is no longer tacky. Then, gently scrape it off with a sharp knife instead of wiping it, which can smear or leave a residue.
Wooden Toys and Other Applications
Mister Glue’s Instant Glue can also be used for wooden toys, Warhammer figurines, and action figures, whether metal or plastic.
Wooden Toys
Prepare Surfaces: Clean the surfaces of old glue to ensure a smooth, even fit.
Use Both Glue and Accelerator: Apply Accelerator to one side and wait 30 seconds. Apply glue to the other side and press the surfaces together firmly.
Partially Broken Toys: If the toy can be pressed back together nicely, squeeze glue into the gap. Apply Accelerator first if available.
Important Notes
Cyanoacrylate Base: Mister Glue’s Instant Glue is based on cyanoacrylate, the same as Super Glue or Crazy Glue, but with solvents distilled out of it, making it much stronger.
Lego Caution: Mister Glue’s Instant Glue can permanently bond Lego pieces. Be cautious and do not let children use it themselves as it can quickly glue fingers or eyelids together.
Mister Glue ensures a reliable and safe repair for all your children's toys, maintaining their playtime fun and durability.
