Repairing Neoprene

Repairing Neoprene

What is Neoprene?:
A synthetic rubber with good resistance to oil, chemical, flame and aging. It remains flexible in cold conditions and is commonly used for gaskets, cushioning and weatherproofing. It is also used in waterproof products.

Neoprene Repair
Mister Glue can be used for neoprene repair. This cyanoacrylate glue will not disolve or melt neoprene or rubber. Once cured it still remains flexible and waterproof. For a tear, apply a bead to one side and run it all the way along. Make sure that you cover without any gaps so there will be no leaks. Press the two sides together for a few seconds and leave to fully cure. Ideally, one would leave for a few hours but we have had many people do onsite repairs when fishing(repairing neoprene waders) or diving(repair neoprene wetsuit or dry suit) and go back in the water within a few minutes.

For a hole in the neoprene one can either press the edges together or use a patch. The whole surface of the patch does not need to be covered but certainly the edges and a full circle to there are no leaks.
